Engineered Hardwood Installers
This type of flooring is not a solid hardwood. Engineered is generally made of three to five layers of wood. Then a finer veneer is place on top to give it a uniform, beautiful look. These floors come prefinished and require no other process once installed.
Because engineered flooring has a tongue and groove (or another locking method) it does not need to be nailed or glued to the subfloor. This is why it is considered a “floating floor”. This installation process make this type of flooring cheaper than a traditional hardwood floor.
Traditional Hardwood Flooring
These are solid wood boards that are either glued or nailed to the subfloor. There are quite a few choices as to what type of rood to choose from and this can depend on which rooms they will be installed in.
Heavy traffic areas should have a much harder wood such as am oak or hickory. These woods can last longer in places like entry ways and kitchens. Rooms with less traffic (bedrooms or living rooms) black cherry or black walnut can be used.
In damp areas like bathrooms and basements you would want to stay away from using a solid wood floor. It is better to use an engineered wood for the flooring as it is more stable.
